Can I make a mould out of aluminum?
Okay so this will sound weird but I don’t have and can’t find any plaster of paris around here so I was wondering if I could make a mold out of aluminum foil. I’m trying to make a sculpture out of…vinyl records. Yeah. So will an aluminum foil mold work (id be putting it into the oven at 200 C). Thanks.
Unless you are absolutely sure of the temperature, I think it is too high for vinyl and may give off HCl which is toxic (same as cooking polymer clay too high) That is 392 F and something nearer to 250F (121C) is recommended as I vaguely recall.
In any case, aluminum foil is good to about 1000F.
