Should we replace Halloween candy with something else?
The American Dentistry Association must be appalled by the sugar intake of the majority of Americans during Halloween. Americans eat large amounts of sugar to begin with, including corn syrup. Is the idea of replacing chocolate bars with more practical items really so unreasonable? School supplies, tea, and dried fruit SHOULD be what trick or treaters are given. Not 10,000 grams of sugar, which they will eat in a few days. Halloween candy does affect all age groups.
No, actually I think dentists like the repeat business.
Seriously though, it’s once a year. A few days of candy doesn’t do much harm.
