Can I put small candy canes in melt and pour soap?
My daughter and I are going to attempt to make soaps for teacher christmas gifts. I found a cute idea in All You magazine where they used the clear glycerin melt and pour soap and put small peppermint candies in them. In there soaps they left the candy wrapper on. However I wondering if it would be okay to do pretty much the same thing using small candy canes but leaving the plastic candy wrapper off?
well I just tried some with the wrappers off. If the candy is going to melt would it do it right away or is it something that would take awhile?
I don’t think the heat would be a problem, but the fact that the colors could run or that the candy could begin to dissolve might be the reason the wrappers were left on.
You could instead though use small candy canes made from polymer clay to embed in the soap…they would be cute and wouldn’t need a protective covering. Those candy canes wouldn’t be edible of course.
