Anyone know of or have experience of companies that fit clay ventilation pipes to walls as damp proofing. ?
The wall is a mixture of brick and stone, no cavity built without a DPC, not suitable for silicone injection because of the unseen cavities.
I am slightly puzzled by your dismissal of silicone injection. The principle of silicone injection is to create a chemical barrier along a mortar course where the DPC would normally have been in each leaf of a cavity wall or about six inches up from the ground level on the exterior of a solid wall. You would probably need to use a couple of coats of liquid DPC (Synthaprufe) on the interior wall below floor level and up to about three feet above.
I have used the silicone. It works and more to the point it lasts. You can do all of this work DIY. You can hire the injection machine, buy the silicone from them, and if you can paint, apply the Synthaprufe.
Any ‘unseen cavities’ would be irrelevant, especially if you overdose the wall, which you can afford to do if DIYing.
I have seen the ceramic pipes advertised. But do they work? Silicone does.
