someone tell me what to do with these cockatiel eggs?
My breeding pair laid 3 eggs and 1 has hatched, i candled the other 2 and i found they were also fertile bbut now its has been 6 days and not another has hatched, if they are dead should i take them out so the parents concentrate on the chick more, or should i leave them in incase it upsets them.
i also want to know why the chick sort of ‘hugs’ the eggs is it just to be able to stand up, or maybe a source of warmth because they been sat on them?
Leave the eggs in there until the single chick is at least 10 days old. The other eggs help protect the single one from getting splay legged from the parents sitting too tight on the brood. Also, depending on when the other eggs were layed they could still hatch. Incubation begins when the eggs are kept at a constant temp by the parents, so an egg layed 5 days after another egg, will still hatch 5 days after the first one hatches.
