New to cloth diapering. What detergent to use and what’s your routine?
I just ordered online a bunch of diapers to try (bumgenius, fuzzibunz, flip and charlie banana) along with reusable wipes and the wet bag. I am new to all this, I haven’t gotten them in the mail but I know I’ll need a detergent. I have been looking and they are all expensive online, aren’t you supposed to save money? how if you have to buy detergent for the diapers every month? I’ve seen some homemade on etsy but don’t know. There are so many kinds it’s confusing, I have very hard well water (out in the country) and I can’t hang them outside to try bc of snow right now and it’s very humid. (plan on a clothesline inside or something) I want to take good care of the diapers for them to last long but can you use a detergent that is sold commonly in stores? I have walmart, meyers, krogers, geyers. What kind do you use and what is your washing routine?

so sorry, I meant to say we have soft water lol, we have a softener here.
Some of my friends recommended BioKleen to me. You can order it or get it at a natural food store. It’s not too expensive, natural and gentle, but it has oxygen boosters that really get the poop out 
. I used it on our fuzzibunz and they came out clean every time. As the diapers are used, I would pull out the insert and put both the insert and the diaper in the wet bag because you don’t want to wash them still together. Then I would fill up the washer with hot water and the diapers and detergent and then let it all soak together for about 30 minutes. Sometimes I’d add a few splashes of white vinegar because it really cuts the pee smell. Then I would just run the wash. Always dry on low because it protects the life span of the diapers.
If you start to feel like your diapers aren’t as fresh as they were give them an hour in the sun and it freshens them right up again.Good for you for going cloth. They are expensive to invest in, but you can always sell them when you are done at diaperswappers.com. The fleece layer on FB’s and Bg’s cleans beautifully, they are really easy!
