Why don’t I get paid for any of my credit card tips?
I’m a waiter at a local restaurant in San Diego. I make $8.00/hour plus all my cash tips. However, when a patron leaves me a credit card tip I never see it again. Is this normal?
No, you should be receiving those tips. Often credit card tips are included in your paycheck.
Ask your boss why you don’t get those tips? Some restaurants have policies of pooling all tips and splitting them or maybe your employer has some other policy.
If a lot of customers use credit cards and include tips, you could be losing out on a lot of money. If your boss continues to not give you those tips, you might want to look for a new job.
