Can I subsitute a pie pan for a tart pan?
I have this great recipe for a tart and I don’t have a tart pan. Is a tart pan about as deep as a pie pan? Will all of the ingredients fit into a pie pan the same as they would a tart pan? Will I ruin my recipe by trying a pie pan instead?
As long as you don’t mind leaving it in the pan, it’s not a problem. Tart pans are designed so you can get the tart back out of the pan after baking. Tart pans are a smidge shallower than pie pans, but that won’t make much difference.
Just call the end product a pie and no one will know! (I won’t tell! Wink!)
