I was told I could use Shea Butter as a hair conditioner and scalp treatment, but I am unsure how.?
I have raw African Shea butter, I want to use it as a conditoner, do I need to wash it out? This is my first time using it so I am unsure of what to do.
I use it, too. There is refined and unrefined shea butter, and I’ve used both and, for my hair, unrefined is better and more moisturizing for my hair. I use it as a moisturizer. I rub it between my hands to melt it and then rub it through my hair and leave it until the next time I wash. I add more if my hair starts becoming dry. It’s great for keeping my hair moisturized for days at a time. I don’t put anything on my scalp, but I guess if you have a dry scalp then you can put it on your scalp like you would oil or grease. I’m natural, btw, and I’ve never used it on relaxed hair – when I was relaxed.
