Can I stop a cloth red rose from bleeding red when I dip it in water or candle gel.?
I am trying to make wedding centerpieces and I bought a big vase and my plan was to put red bead type of things and then stick a cloth red rose in with it and then dump candle gel in it, but when I dumped the candle gel in it, the rose bled and the whole vase turned red, so you cant see anything but red. How do i stop it from bleeding red. Is there something that I can protect the rose with.
Heat some white vinegar to the boiling point, then saturate the vinegar with salt by desolving salt in it while it’s still hot on the stove until no more will melt, seeing it in the bottom of the sauce pan but stiring doesn’t make it desolve. Let it cool to room temp. Do NOT dip the rose in it until it is completely cool, not even the slightest bit warm. Dip the rose in it for a few moments until you think that it is soaked through, then let it dry. Suspending it upside down to dry may help. If the salt leaves a white residue here & there on the petals after drying don’t worry. When you dip the roses in the solution you are using to suspend them in for display it will disappear. I hope this works. This old vinegar & salt solution is what I use on new jeans to keep my thighs & knees from turning blue or black. Ages ago, when I needed to set some bleeding dye I asked around. Some said to use vinegar and others said to use salt. After thinking about it I came up with the recipe I just stated above and it’s been working like a charm.
