When you shrink wrap your windows for winter, are you supposed to do the glass on doors too?
I have glass on my front door that’s a pretty big section. It doesn’t open, but the door is fully functional. I was wondering if I should shrink wrap the glass part of the door. I already weatherstripped the door frame.
No the door should have an insulated screen door or insulated glass.
You shrink wrap windows to make an extra barrier that is air tight and that sealed space helps keep the warm inside and the cold outside. I do all my windows and all openings I do not use. This shrink wrap has helped me cut my heating bill in half.
If you weatherstripped the door frame then you should have the shrink wrap over the entire door. If you can feel air coming in then shrink wrap that opening to stop the cold air entering. Sounds like it is a single pane of glass so you could shrink wrap both side and have a much better seal to stop the cold. Take a look and see if it is single pane, which is uninsulated glass.
