wood soap? i have a home built in 1928 with elaborate antique dark wood molding in the living room and dining?
rooms. they are in pretty good shape. would it be a mistake to use wood soap on something like this? i have heard that wood soap isnt good for the finish. what is the best way to care for old molding like this? is just dusting the things good enough?
if you feel the woodwork has become “growdy” because of the handprints (doors and railings) you may want to use Murphy’s Oil Soap. Test in an inconspicious spot first. You may like the results and want to use it on all of your woodwork. Base boards usually get pretty nasty because of gas or other fossil fuel heat sources, mixed with the dust that comes in and settles. That might be a good place to start.
